The challenge
Healthcare and regulated cannabis involve many different groups, each with its own workflows, data and compliance requirements: patients, physicians, dispensaries, cultivators, manufacturers, laboratories, researchers, regulators, executives and administrators. The platform needed to serve all of them from one connected system, keep sensitive data secure and give leadership a single, real-time view of the business.
The solution
We designed a multi-portal SaaS architecture built on microservices, with a React.js front end, Python and .NET services, a GraphQL API layer and OAuth-based authentication. Each user group gets its own portal with role-based access, while shared services handle identity, data, notifications, integrations and AI features.
- 10 role-based portals for patients, physicians, dispensaries, cultivators, manufacturers, laboratories, researchers, regulators, executives and administrators.
- Patient portal: treatment plans, appointments, symptom tracking, lab results and secure messaging.
- Physician portal: patient lists, schedules, approvals, clinical notes, prescriptions and outcomes, with AI insights such as drug-interaction flags.
- Executive portal: revenue, compliance, operations, research, risk management and strategic reporting.
- AI workflows: LLMs and custom AI models that support clinical decisions and surface compliance updates.
- Integrations: third-party systems for clinical, operational, compliance and enterprise workflows.
